Bio
Erin Barnard is a music educator and violinist/violist who has been teaching private lessons and working with ensembles since 2002. She specializes in middle school string instruction both privately and in public schools.
Erin plays viola and graduated from St. Olaf College with a Bachelor of Music in 2006. She recently finished her Masters in Music Education at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has played with the St. Olaf Orchestra, the Chippewa Valley Symphony, the Madison Community Orchestra, Edgewood Chamber Orchestra, the Middleton Community Orchestra, Beaver Dam Area Orchestra, Madison Co-op String Orchestra, and Taliesin Chamber Players.
Erin has volunteered and worked for Wisconsin State Music Association since 2006 judging Solo Ensemble Festivals, coaching the Middle Level Honors Project, and serving on the Literature Selection Committee. She also serves on the Board of Wisconsin String Teacher’s Association as Newsletter and Website Editora and Wisconsin Young Artists Conductor. Erin has her National Board Certification, a Master Teaching License, and is a Kohl Fellow for 2017.
Some of her favorite things ever are coffee and puppies. In her free time she runs off steam by literally running and might be a little crazy about knitting. Maybe.
She currently teaches at Savanna Oaks Middle School in Verona, WI, conducts Opus One for Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras, and fiddles in the band Soggy Prairie.
